abbott Education Center is approved by the State Approving Agency for Veterans Education and Training

(Virginia Beach) In an effort to expand educational opportunities here in Virginia Beach, abbott Education Center has partnered with the Department of Veterans Affairs to begin offering its Nurse Aide Program to our Military Veterans, Active-Duty service members and their qualified family dependents.

“We are delighted to be able to be working with the Dept. of Veterans Affairs…” says Araceli T. Marcial, Program Director of abbott Education Center. Veterans, Active-Duty service members and their families face a unique challenge as students, from transitioning between bases and grappling with deployment to balancing work and family life upon return. “Military personnel and their dependents expressed to us their interest in seeing expanded learning opportunities and this new partnership will be the cornerstone of our efforts to offer just that.”

The collaboration will also show that abbott offers a non-credit Nurse Aide Program intended to explore a career in healthcare. The 9 week program will focus on assisting individuals work through the process of career discovery and learning skills that will cover such topics as: self-assessment, interviewing skills and job searches.

“It is our hope that those stationed in or near Virginia Beach will be attracted to pursuing their educational ambitions at abbott. We’re very excited to build on this concept by expanding our offerings for our Military Personnel and their dependents.”
