Abbott Education Comprehensive Nurse Aide Program is approved by the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Health Professions Virginia Board of Nursing. Students learn basic care skills and theory including supervised practical experience preparing students to take the required competency test for Certified Nurse Aides (CNA) to be able to work in Long Term Care Facilities and other specialty areas such as private medical offices, hospital settings, senior day care centers, mental health units and home health care.retirement centers. The course also provides valuable job skills and a chance for a new future for people who are unemployed, underemployed or simply looking to make a career change.

The Course includes CPR Certification, classroom (principles/theory) with practical (hands-on) clinical experience in the local healthcare facility. Abbott offers Job placement assistance in the expanding network of healthcare facilities across Hampton Roads, positions are available with long term care.

Students learn client care skills, infection control, safety, communication, interpersonal skills and theory. Supervised clinical experience is included. The course prepares participants to take the state required qualifying competency examination for Certified Nurse Aide (CNA). To work in Virginia, the Nurse Aide is required to complete and receive a certificate of completion from a state-approved curriculum to qualify to take the State Competency Examination.
